Our tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Puno between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. to head to the main port. Here, we will board our motorboat to start an unforgettable adventure on the world's highest navigable lake: Lake Titicaca.
Our first stop will be the famous Uros Floating Islands. Our guide will explain the history and lifestyle of the inhabitants of these islands, who build their own homes and boats using the totora, an aquatic plant that grows in the lake. We will have the opportunity to interact with a local family and, optionally, take a ride on a traditional totora reed raft.
We will continue our boat trip for approximately two and a half hours until we reach Taquile Island, a place full of ancestral traditions and spectacular landscapes. The island is famous for its inhabitants, the Taquileños, who are recognized by UNESCO for their extraordinary textile art. We will take a moderate hike to reach the main village, enjoying panoramic views of the immense blue lake.
In Taquile, we will enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant, where we will taste delicious lake trout or other local options. After lunch, we will have time to explore the town square and admire the weavers' work.
In the afternoon, we will begin the return trip to the city of Puno. The tour concludes at approximately 5:00 p.m. with the transfer back to your respective hotel, ending a day full of culture and nature.
To fully enjoy the tour, we recommend bringing a cap or hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, a warm jacket for the boat trip, comfortable walking shoes, and a camera. It is a good idea to bring some cash (Soles) to buy handicrafts or for extra expenses.
